Virgil Van Dijk Annoyed Manchester City Players In Liverpool Community Shield Win

Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk managed to rile up Manchester City players with his reaction to Mohamed Salah‘s penalty in the Community Shield. Check out the footage below.

The Reds ran out 31 winners in the annual season opener at the King Power Stadium on Saturday and it was Salah‘s spot kick which put them back in front.

Julian Alvarez had equalized after Trent Alexander-Arnold put Liverpool in front, but Jurgen Klopp‘s men were given a penalty after Ruben Dias blocked Darwin Nunez’s header with his hand.

Salah stepped up to smash past Ederson And surprisingly, it wasn’t him City players had the issue with.

Ederson attempted to roll the ball back to the center circle so his side could kick-off quickly after the celebrations.

Rodri attempt to confront van Dijk while Bernardo Silva argued with referee Craig Pawson about the Netherlands international’s conduct.

Fans have reacted to the exchange on social media and they think it’s hilarious:

One person said: “We can’t take him anywhere man.”

Another put: “Is that Rodri pretending he would get in van Dijk‘s face?

A third tweeted: “Bernardo the little grass went straight to the referee.”

While someone added: “No City player would dare to challenge him.”

Much has been made about the 23yearold’s £85 million price tag and he replaced Roberto Firmino just before the hour mark.

He was a constant menace all evening and tested Ederson a number of times, getting his reward with a well-taken header late on.

Klopp praised his striker at full-time and told Sky Sports: “I think Darwin would have been fine even without scoring the third one because the penalty was Millie’s [James Milner’s] cross and his header.

“The chance he had before he did really well, but Ederson reacted brilliantly. The goal was obviously the icing on the cake, so really pleased for him.

“You could see in his face, you could see in the face of all his. team-mates how happy the boys are for him and that’s a really good sign after that short period of time that he is with us.”
