Following yet another leak, the PS Plus Essential monthly games for August 2022 have now been officially announced. It’s the usual three games spread across PS5 and PS4, and there’s something for everyone in this latest trio.
August 2022’s PS Plus Essential monthly games are:
A very strong selection, we’re sure most would agree. The Tony Hawk remake collection is fantastic, recapturing what made those early games so great while modernizing them with better controls and solid presentation. We gave it an 8/10 in our review, calling it an “excellent remake” with “wonderfully tight controls”.
Yakuza: Like a Dragon is an interesting pick; It’s actually the most unusual game in the series, focusing on a new cast of characters and swapping out the beat-’em-up action combat for something akin to a turn-based RPG. It’s a massive game with brilliant humour and a story stuffed with melodrama, and Ichiban Kasuga is a great lead. It also earned an 8/10 from us; we called it “one of the most unique and engrossing RPGs on PS4”.
Finally, Little Nightmares is an eerie, atmospheric puzzle platformer that we’d also recommend. It feels like LittleBigPlanet only with grotesque, creepy bad guys trying to stop you escaping a messed up facility. We said it “looks the part and hits the spot” in our 7/10 review.
These will join the list of All PS Plus Games, available to add to your library starting from 2nd August. In the meantime, you can check out what’s currently on the service through the link, or have a browse of the Best PS Plus Games if you want the tip-top stuff.
In a couple of weeks, we should learn about what’s coming up on PS Plus Extra and PS Plus Premium for the month of September. We’ll of course have all the info for you right here on Push Square.
