Desperadas 2

Posted by nix On December - 29 - 2008

On Saturday, December 27, i met up with Anne and Karla in Gateway to watch Desperadas 2. Starring Ruffa Gutierrez, Rufa Mae Quinto, Iza Calzado, Marian Rivera and featuring Ogie Alcasid in a female role. Yes, a female role.

The movie is entertaining. Ogie was really funny and the ladies are beautiful and sexy. The storyline is fine, a little shallow, but still funny.

Halfway through the movie, we were distracted when someone from the fifth row kept taking pictures of the movie with her camera phone. I was itching to report her but i would miss the movie. So much for the theaters’ press release of having anti-piracy surveillance camera and undercover agents looking out for pirates. Not that she was a pirate, but it was unethical of her to take pictures inside the theater with the flash on! And she did it more or less 10 times. Karla said that if she wanted movie stills, she could easily Google and download the pictures.

Other MMFF1 movies i want to see are: Dayo, Iskul Bukol, and Shake, Rattle, and Roll 10.

  1. Metro Manila Film Fest []

For the past months, i have only been watching TV series, but since Friday, i have seen the following movies:

Normally, i would blog about them separately. But my movie reviews are too short and that if i saw multiple movies i should write them in one entry. Click on a movie poster above.

Twilight premiere

Posted by nix On November - 25 - 2008

Tonight was the premiere of Twilight. My cousins and our friend will be watching tonight. My churchmate, Ara, will absent from school tomorrow just to watch the movie, which in my opinion is bad. She’s still in high school.

Anyway, I liked Kristen Stewart since Panic Room, and she’s also been in movies like Zathura and In the Land of Women with Meg Ryan. She also had a cameo role in Jumper, as Diane Lane’s daughter.

I’m pleased that she was casted as Bella Swan. It’s a great break for her. I think she’s the hottest teen star at the moment because of the exposure Twilight is giving her.

I haven’t read the book. Though i was in Powerbooks earlier and found a hardbound copy and an open paperback of Twilight, so i read a few pages. And the role suits her, i think.

On the other hand, Robert Pattinson is very lucky too, to have been given the role of Edward Cullen. He starred as Cedric Diggory in a Harry Potter movie. A sad role too because he had to die.

He’s the crush of all Twilight fanatics out there, because, according to them, Edward Cullen is such a hottie, ergo, Robert is a hottie for playing the role. Even if he’s not, he’s still hot.

Another familiar face I saw in the trailer is Elizabeth Reaser. She’s Ava/Rebecca Pope in episodes of Grey’s Anatomy. She’s playing Esme Cullen in Twilight, and i have no idea at the moment who that is. But since she’s a Cullen, she’s a vampire!

Even if i haven’t read the novels, i’m still excited to see the movie. I’m such a movie buff. I plan to watch it, though i’m not sure when or who with. I might go alone, as usual, but i want to go when things have died down a little. I don’t want to go in with all the people coz i want good seats and enjoy the experience.

Madagascar 2: Escape to Africa

Posted by nix On November - 23 - 2008

I didn’t really plan to watch a movie,  though Madagascar 2 is on my movies to watch list. From school, i headed to Araneta Colliseum where the Ticketnet office was. I was going to buy tickets for the UP SAMASKOM LIVE A.I.D.S. show. Since i don’t often hang around that area, the only ticketing office i know off is on the green gate. No one was there and there was no guard around to inquire from.

I wanted to get home and rest because my back was killing me. But i didn’t want to return another day just for the tickets coz i might forget again and miss the show, so i thought that i might as well spend time and watch a movie.

I was thinking of “One True Love”, but i told myself long ago that i’d only watch movies in theaters if the movie was a blockbuster or something really good that i really, really loved. So i watched Madagascar 2 instead. I remember not watching the first one in the theaters coz i thought it was lame but i was wrong, i found out how hilarious it was when i had a DVD. I loved it.

Prince Caspian

Posted by nix On November - 8 - 2008

It was only days ago when i saw The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian on my PC. I was surprised to find it in torrents already. I wanted to see this on the big screen but i was broke when it was shown. Poor me.

I loved it! I loved The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe and i love Prince Caspian. I haven’t read the books though. I know a friend of my mom sent me a bookof Narnia but i think i have misplaced it. BOO! I hope i’ll find it somewhere here, that is, if it exists or if it was just a figment of my imagination. I have been getting that for the past weeks. Maybe because of lack of sleep.

Anyway, i think Prince Caspian is a hottie! And the girl playing Lucy is a cutie!

I rate this movie an 8!

Igor

Posted by nix On October - 15 - 2008

I saw this movie last Wednesday, at SM Megamall. I know, i know, i told myself i wouldn’t see a movie in that mall again because i felt like the price is not worth the theater, but i didn’t have a choice, i could have gone to Robinson’s Galleria instead and had a yummy BK Whopper for food. But why didn’t i is beyond me.1

Anyway, it’s a nice kiddie movie but it’s kind of different. Y’know, like dark and not at the same time. But what i liked about this movie is that it’s funny and the lesson in the end is what that really matters. Like the poster here, “all men are not created evil”

Here’s the plot from Imdb.com

Animated fable about a cliché hunchbacked evil scientist’s assistant who aspires to become a scientist himself, much to the displeasure of the rest of the evil science community.

Poor Igor with his failed attempts to make his creation evil. Oops, i might have spoiled it a little. But don’t worry, i didn’t give it away. :)

Starring John Cusack as the voice of Igor. And Molly Shannon as the voice of Eva.

  1. i can’t remember why, that’s why! []

The Dark Knight

Posted by nix On October - 11 - 2008

I’m such a loooser.

It wasn’t only till last week that i was able to watch The Dark Knight. Yes, i didn’t watch this on the big screen which kinda sucks because this was one of my most awaited films. But i didn’t get the chance to because i was broke! :broke: And i didn’t have anyone to go with. Though i normally watch movies alone. :(

I found a download online and watched it on my PC. I know, i’m bad. :P

It was awesome! Heath Ledger was great! I remember when i first saw it’s trailer i didn’t know it was him. And everyone was right when they said who could top his performance? But i believe Johnny Depp will do a great job of playing the Riddler, if the rumors are true.

One thing that irritated me in this movie is when Christian Bale’s voice becomes low and rugged when he’s Batman. I could barely understand what he was saying! But i guess it was part of hiding his secret identity. Still..

I loved it. But i also love the classic Batman flims.

Oh, and The Dark Knight already featured Harvey Dent a.k.a. Two Face. I’m not a fanatic but was Rachel Dawes really involved with Harvey Dent? Is that how the real story goes? Or did they just add that up? I really don’t know.

Anyway, i rate this 9 out of 10. Why only 9? I don’t know. I feel like there’s something off and i just can’t point my finger at it.

Tropic Thunder

Posted by nix On October - 11 - 2008

The image in the left is my ticket for the special advance screening of Tropic Thunder last September 27, at SM Megamall Cinema 9. I failed to blog this because i kept forgetting.

The ticket was sold to my mom by her colleague. This was for a fund-raising project of Self Enhancement for Life Foundation, Inc. A Non-stock, non-government organization devoted to the treatment of substance abuse.

The movie is funny. With the cast of Jack Black, Robert Downey Jr., and Ben Stiller, and directed by the latter. It is “an action comedy about a group of self-absorbed actors who set out to make the most expensive film. After ballooning costs force the studio be cancel the movie, the frustrated director refuses to stop shooting, leading his cast into the jungles of Southeast Asia, where they encounter real bad guys.” Quoted from the ticket.

It’s kind of a gorey movie, some scenes were gross, but still funny till the end. Also in the movie is Matthew McConaughey and Tom Cruise, who i didn’t realize till the near end and my suspicions were right when i saw the end credits. What gave him was his eyes, somehow i knew it was Tom Cruise.

I first learned of this movie when i saw Jack Black and Ben Stiller being interviewed by Tyra Banks, who also has a cameo role in the movie as herself, in her show.

There are also a number of special perticipation from famous actors like, Jon Voight, Jennifer Love Hewitt, and Lance Bass.

Friday Flicks: SATC and Another Cinderella Story

Posted by nix On September - 26 - 2008

Sex and the City. I don’t know what i was thinking! LOL. Out of curiosity i downloaded it last Monday and watched it. I’ve read some reviews about the movie which said that the movie is just like the TV show only longer. And longer it was! It was the longest two-and-a-half hours of my life!

It was ok. Though Sarah Jessica Parker looked like a hag, Kim Cattrall IS old, and Cynthia Nixon looks haggard. On the plus side, Kristin Davis may be old but she’s still hot! Oh by the way, Mr. Big isn’t that good looking anymore. He’s old and his eyebrows were horrible. He looked gay with them.

I cried when Carrie was heartbroken from when Mr. Big didn’t show up for their wedding. I totally felt it, like i was the bride and the love of my life left me at the altar. Aaw…

The only other good thing i liked in the movie is that Jennifer Hudson was there!

Just today i watched Another Cinderella Story starring Selena Gomez. It was totally another Cinderella story. Same story, different names, and somewhat different situations.

I didn’t know that Selena Gomez could dance so well. I wish she could have danced more. The only scene, with her dancing, that i appreciated was the one in the studio. The dance at the end part wasn’t as much.

I think she’s pretty. She looks really young for age too. She’s 16 and she looks like she’s only 12. I hope she’s a good kid and won’t do anything stupid.

Pirates of the Carribean 4

Posted by nix On September - 26 - 2008

There’s a rumor that Johnny Depp is coming back for the Pirates of the Carribean 4. I searched in Imdb.com and didn’t find anything about a fourth installment on the pirates movie but i’m not against it. I simply love Pirates of the Carribean and i could watch the movies over and over. Though i thought At World’s End was the last installment.

I have seen a lot of Johnny Depp in the past years and i’m loving him more every time.

    Help end world hunger
