your laptop’s memory

Posted by nix On October - 24 - 2008

Laptop is something that i want and need that i still don’t have. My cousin has one and she doesn’t even really need it. Her laptop is always in their house and she only uses it when she’s home and awake, which is, rare. My other cousin has a laptop too. It was given to her as a birthday gift when she turned 18. She uses it for school works and assignments. She’s taking up Advertising and the laptop helps her a lot. She’s pretty good too!

My aunt told me that my cousin, the first one i mentioned, wants to sell her laptop for Php 37k, that’s around $780, when she bought it Php 40k++ ($833). We told her that’s her daughter might have a hard time because laptops are cheap now and hers is even second hand. She said that the specs are high and it has rarely been used. I said, still, you can probably get something higher for a cheaper or same price. So she said she’ll tell her daughter about it.

Anyway, i’m writing about laptops because i came upon the site MemoryStore.com, they have a wide range of products for computer upgrades like, SDRAM modules, DDR modules, laptop memory, and more. They cater to manufacturers such as Apple, Compaq, Dell, HP, etc.

i have a new memory card!

Posted by nix On October - 23 - 2008

Well, not entirely new. I bought the “new” micro sd card like 3 weeks ago. It’s 2gb card for my mp3 player. The one i had before is now on the cellphone my mom gave me, and since i want more songs on my mp3 player, i had to buy a new one.

My mp3 player alone has a memory of 2gb, which was pretty big for a cheap player, because the usual memory of mp3 players here are 1gb. So i added another 2gb to make it 4gb, which means more or less than 2000 songs. I have all the songs i love and some that i might listen to when i feel like it. I still want an Ipod though. If i had a 60gb Ipod, then i don’t have to transfer my songs all the time. I can have them all there, even the ones from the 90s and mom’s collection that i like too! Oh.. wow.

I get the memory cards from CD-R king. They have China made items, which makes them cheaper than most. They’re quite safe, or else they wouldn’t be allowed in the malls.

Online, you can get your memory cards at MemorySuppliers.com, micro sd cards are more in demand now than the bigger cards.

a new (old) cellphone

Mom bought a couple of new cellphones the other day. A Nokia 2600 classic and a 1680 classic. They were cheap, slick, light and serves the function that mother needs. She gave me her Nokia 6233, which i now enjoy. I put a 2gb. memory card and have downloaded tons of games and music into it. Mom realized that she doesn’t really need a phone like that, though she needs a quadband phone because she’s always out of the country.

She still kept asking for the phone she gave me because of the games, and i was kind of pissed because she wants to know the lock code and i didn’t want to tell her because then she’d find out and go through my messages or whatever is in my “new” phone. So i had to change the lock code temporarily until i find a way to get her games to her new phones. That was one thing i was trying to do for 3 days now, i was looking for an application that lets me send the games to her phone because i didn’t have a bluetooth device for my computer. Though i found an application (File Explorer) that allows me to hide/unhide folders. I was finally able to put some pictures i didn’t want her to see. No, they’re not scandalous. Just some secret stuff.

Anyway, this afternoon i finally got the chance to buy a bluetooth device and downloaded games for her phone. I’m free!!! I can keep all my secrets to myself!! muwahaha! And the bluetooth device i bought was cool because i can access the content of my phone without having to remove the memory card and use the reader. I can also directly send files to the phone! Isn’t that cool or what? I’m just so happy. I’m still downloading stuff. :kawaii:

almost done with the new theme

I could activate it now but there are still some tweaks i need to do with it. It sucks that i’m out of practice with coding and CSS. I can’t figure out how to put my flickr-rss here. hahaha! it keeps showing up in bullet form. Though so far, it looks good. I can’t think of anything else i need to put in it at the moment, maybe tomorrow i’ll remember something.

This afternoon i went to Shangri-La to get my eye glasses fixed. Unfortunately, they don’t have the same frame as the one i broke. Mom got that from Jakarta so the frame is different than the ones they had at the optical shop. The lady said they could probably make it fit one of their available frames there. The only problem is that the cheapest they had costs Php 3000! Damn. I would not spend money like that. So what i did, like last time, i chose a reading glass and had the lens changed to the grade of my eyes. Luckily they had a style i liked and it’s plastic too! I won’t get rashes like last time.

Afterwards, i went to Megamall to look for A-1 driving school. Yes, i’m going to learn how to drive just when the price of gasoline is waaay up. LOL. I took a brochure to show mom then decided to go home. But i passed JB Music store and i suddenly remembered my guitar and how i’ve been wanting to have a tuner.

Everything seemed to be on sale nowadays. Mom said it has something to do with the recession in the States. Anyway, the guitar tuner was on sale at Php 450, i think. The guy said the original price was around Php500++, which was still cheaper than the last time i checked.

I’m just happy because now i can tune my guitar anytime and i could practice till i get better.

IT stuff that sucks

Due to the hot weather, mom has decided to spend our days and afternoons at church; in the area near the river. And with the spacious area, the pugs can run when they feel like it. It’s cool because we get to spend time with the Evia Family and my uncle’s family. We chat, play, and watch DVD’s.

With that “busy” schedule, i managed to reformat my PC and i even brought it with me one Saturday afternoon in church where i installed Tomb Raider: Anniversary and played while the younger kids where watching and looking out for possible things i missed. It was frustrating at first because my monitor wouldn’t cooperate. It would blink and then i would restart the system and check if everything was plugged in well. I didn’t know what was going on. Someone suggested that it might have been caused by someone who shook the table. I really thought it was the monitor or the video card but after a few minutes of trying things out it was finally working.

I brought the PC back home that night because there was something that needed to be done and it was Sunday the next day which means there would be a lot of people and kids would be there. You know how kids are annoying sometimes. They’re curious little people.

Anyway, i set up the PC Monday morning only to find it blinking again, i was desperate. To make the long story short, i consulted with JJ and he suggested that it must be the memory card. And my brain was all “WTF?! how could that be? my memory card is 8 months new!” So then i sent a text message to the technician where we bought the card and he told me to bring the memory card along with the receipt and he’ll check it out. For one thing, i HAVE to find that receipt. It’s here somewhere, i just don’t know where.

Right now i am using the CPU of one of the PC sets we have in the shop. We’re closed at the moment (we’ll be relocating the shop). I took the 256mb RAM from the other computer for this unit to have 512mb RAM. But this unit’s speed is only 1.5Ghz while my CPU has 2.4Ghz. This unit has only 32mb VGA while mine has 64mb, which i need to upgrade for more games! Also, i can’t install and transfer stuff from my back-up because this unit won’t accept my DVD writer. :oh:

I should fix my smilies. It has been long overdue. I should find new smilies that interest me. Hmm..

I just got home from Lala’s. She almost didn’t let me go again but i told her to let me so that i could come back early tomorrow. Plus it was too late to get brain juices going. Tomorrow will be the day.

I also have tons of videos to upload. Not really tons, just a lot. And i should bring my camera tomorrow over at Lala’s to take videos of her cute son. I just found out how to make him dance. LOL.

The WP PDA plugin works quite well. I would recommend it to my fellow bloggers so they could still bloghop via WAP. I would sure spend a lot of time bloghopping if only i had a WAP phone.

Speaking of phones, i saw an ad for LG’s new phone model. It’s LG KU990 Viewty and its features interest me so i searched for it. It might just be the phone i need/want. You can see it’s features here. I love it! Though i don’t think it’s available in the Philippines yet. It’s price is $600 US dollars and i don’t know how accurate that is. I’ll just settle with any WAP phone then.

Another phone that had me interested is Blackberry. I’ve seen people use Blackberry phones so i searched for it too. I wonder if it’s available here? Hmm..

Anyway, it’s getting late and i have to go. I’ll update as soon as i can. And sorry i didn’t put pictures though i would usually do.
