Living, Loving, and hating Life

Fixed my bookshelf

Posted by nix On October - 2 - 2008

A couple of weeks back, i re-arranged my bookshelf. I do that from time to time. Whenever i have a new book, i just put it in without arranging the other books properly. I also don’t like anyone else to meddle with the shelf because i arranged it according to my OC self. I’m not really OC, just when it comes to my bookshelf and my dresser.

I love books and i don’t know why. Mom said i’ve been a book reader since i was young. But when i look back, i only remember reading books with pictures in them. It was 6th grade when i discovered my passion for reading pocket books. Some of my classmates would bring their copies of Sweet Valley High and exchange copies with one another and goes the reading session, even during class!

Then the fad faded and it wasn’t till Junior high when i rediscovered my love for reading. My mom was on vacation in the States and bought me 4 books of Harry Potter. She said it was “IN” and that everyone was reading it. I was excited because i loved the concept of the book. Back then, Harry Potter was not that popular here in the Philippines. It wasn’t until a few weeks that had past before i took a Harry Potter book from my bookshelves and read it. I was hooked right away!

I’d read whenever i got home, i would sometimes bring one big book with me just to read it while unwanted classes were going on. Some classmates would make fun of me, some would say i’m wasting my time reading the book. I even brought books 3 and 4 to our school retreat just to read before i slept. They thought i was crazy for being hooked to a hard bound book.

When the first Harry Potter movie came out, i was the one laughing at them. They all went to watch the movie and because they didn’t read the book, they had a lot of questions. Questions that only i could answer. Who’s laughing now?

I waited for the 5th book to come out. But while it was still months away till the release, i bought other books. Pocket books were more my type. I bought series’ like Charmed, Sweep, and Fearless. I also purchased love story pocket books from time to time. I really loved to read.

I still love the idea of reading, but time is not on my side. There are things i need to do and reading takes time. I’ll go back to reading when i’m finished with school. So many books to read, so little time.

I’ve always told myself that I’d try cooking something up. My mom has even bought me recipe books andshe even bothers to take the recipes at the back of labels. She said i could try everything out especially take advantage of our oven.

I haven’t tried anything yet.

A friend of mine gave me a recipe for Oreo Cheesecake because she found out i love cheesecake. I so wanna try that, but i haven’t even looked at the recipe!

The picture here is a cornbread dressing. I’m so hungry i wanna eat that.

When i have the time to try and cook, i’ll look for yummy recipes at www.myrecipes.com/recipes

pimp my ride

Posted by nix On September - 30 - 2008

Well, i don’t have a ride but a friend of mine has and he was telling me that he needs a new air conditioning compressor. I know what air conditioning is, but i have no idea what the compressor is. So once again i did a little research and here’s what i found out, the compressor along with the condenser are usually located on the outside air portion of the air conditioner. That’s it. I told you it was a little research. Hahaha. :D

Well anyway, if you happen to be in need of such compressor, you can head to www.discountcompressor.com.

I’m a NUFFNANGer

Posted by nix On September - 28 - 2008

logologo.jpg I recently joined Nuffnang. If i remember correctly, that was last week only.

Why i joined? I was curious. I have seen their banner on the majority of the blogsites i visited. One time i clicked the banner and read about Nuffnang.

Nuffnang is Asia’s first blog advertising network. That’s what’s cool about it, it’s local! It first served in Malaysia and Singapore, and now, it has arrived in the Philippines!

I also found out today that i was eligible for Glitterati. It is a club exclusive for Nuffnang bloggers. It’s an automatic eligibility for not being a part of any other blog advertising network in South East Asia. Nuffnang Glitterati members get more benefits than non-exclusive members. Isn’t that cool?

If you’re interested, sign-up is easy! You just head to their website, www.nuggnang.com.ph and click on the sign-up online and fill up the form.

I can’t wait for the program to begin. I heard it’s this October. ;)

casino souvenir

Posted by nix On September - 26 - 2008

Mom has been flying to Canada and she has told me about her stay there. They go to this particular casino and they get $5 coupons they could exchange and use to play. She plays slots but is not addicted to it. She plays for fun.

One time i found the drawer with lots of promotional pens from the casino. They were given by one of the staffs whom mom became friends with. It’s really handy for when we need a pen and can’t find any, we’ll just open the drawer and, voila! pens galore.

I have 2 with me, one in my bag, the other clipped in my small notebook. They’re blue inks, though i prefer black ink. But it’s ok, it gets the job done.

lose the extra weight, fatty

Posted by nix On September - 18 - 2008

Obesity is one of the problems in today’s society. With all the “junk” in food, without proper exercise and the right diet, people are getting fatter and fatter each day. There are companies that are coming up with different diet pills‘ that claims to get rid of unwanted fats. Some work, some don’t, but still the best diet is to eat the right diet and exercise.

I, for one need to lose weight. I have a hard time because I’m naturally big boned. I may lose the inches but the weight is still the same. My exercise is swimming, which i get to do rarely. And recently, with my bike, I’ve been riding it everywhere.

Amy Winehouse turns 25

Posted by nix On September - 18 - 2008

Amy Winehouse turned 25 on September 15.

WTH? She’s only two years older than me? She looks older. More like someone in their 30s. But then again, with all the booze and drugs she has ingested, I’m surprised she’s even alive. Especially with all the stuff I have been reading about her online.

She seriously needs to go to a drug rehabilitation facility if she plans to get better and live longer. She has an amazing voice which would be of total waste if she dies today. drug rehab will do her some good.

stores are closing everywhere

Posted by nix On August - 30 - 2008

So i’ve heard. Mom told me that the stores in the U.S. are closing because of the recession, there are sales everywhere! I’ve asked her for a couple of stuff if she finds them on sale. Ate J also told me that the Starbucks stores are closing in Melbourne. The one nearest to hers has closed and she has no idea where to get her Starbucks coffee. I haven’t heard from her in the past month. I wonder how she is.

I’ve been craving for a Starbucks coffee whenever i’m in a mall. I don’t buy though because i’m saving money for more important stuff. Fortunately, here in the Philippines, Starbucks stores are still around.

hold the coffee

Posted by nix On August - 30 - 2008

I miss playing The Sims2. I could play whenever i want but it would probably take up 6-8 hours of my day. And that’s half of the time i’m awake. Creating a house and furnishing it takes 2-4 hours to finish and i don’t know if it’s just me or it really takes that long.

Are coffee tables a necessity? I ask because we don’t have on in the house. I don’t think we have any use for it. I’ve been to houses that has a coffee table, i guess we just don’t get that many visitors in the house.

cute strollers!

Posted by nix On August - 28 - 2008

A few weeks back i blogged about planning gifts for my godchildren. I saw this Bugaboo stroller and i love it so much! I love the color, for one thing. It costs $759. Whoa! Too much i say. But it’s just so lovely and for sure it’s safe.

They also have other items, you can check out the website if you want. Go to babyearth.com for more high-end strollers. These strollers also have accessories, so to speak. Umbrellas, car seat adapters, cup holders, sun shades, and many more.
