I have been into blogging since 2003. It all started when i clicked a link in my Y!Messenger friends’ list. A link that redirected me to Nicole’s then Tabulas blog. During those times i was still into chatting, i have been a chatter since 2000. A link directed me into another link and her web skills interest me. I thought to myself, “i should know how to do that, i’m a Computer Science student!”, and so i started looking for free hosting blogsites.

Back then, everyone was into anything in the www. From Friendster and Myspace pages, then came invitations from Ringo, Hi5, Christianster, Pinoyster, and any other “ster” you’d ever think of. And then there were also blogsites like Xanga, TBlog, Blogger, Tabulas, and etc. I practically signed up for anything, i was all over the web, and i still am.

I wasn’t really sure how blogging goes, all i knew was that almost everyone i know on the web blogs. I was first used a blogging service called Tblog. I found it user friendly, and i knew very little HTML so it worked for me. I had a Xanga before that, but i didn’t know how to use it. As well with Multiply, plus i knew very little people who used those services. I would log-in in my tblog and would just blog about anything, like writing in a diary. Talk about little things that interest me. It was boring i tell ‘ya.

I researched more about web designing and coding, then decided to use Blogger or Blogspot, as it is more popularly known as. I found out that people made custom templates for Blogger use and it was more popular. A few months later i met a Tabulas blogger who later became my friend. Kuya Benj thought me and gave me tips on web design and coding. He’s my mentor and good friend.

Having been in the blogging industry for almost a year, i was interested in getting my own host and domain. I wanted to be able to manage on my own, without having to depend on free blogging services. I thought of getting a sub domain from ##nicole, since i also fit in her domain’s name. But i had so many plans and i ended up buying my own host and domain. In December 2005, i bought Keeping-the-faith.com, i was quite content but my plans didn’t pull through. It was a risk because i barely knew what i was doing but it was all good.

Shortly after that, in March 2006 i decided to get a new host and domain. (I told you i had no idea what i was doing.) And this is it, Muzikistah.com, the name came from the word “music” and “iztah” is a suffix that most Filipinos use to define themselves in connection to a word that they most likely feel describes them, like Rakista, for people who are into rock. The original thought for the domain name was MUZIKIZTAH, my then closest cousin Faith thought of it and i agreed but decided to change the spelling because there were too many z’s.

A year and a half later, Muzikistah.com is still a live, but barely, registered at PinoyDNS and hosted at Hosting.ph, at a promo price of $28/year. With 250mb disk space and if i remember right, 2Gb bandwidth. On September 27, i received an e-mail from Hosting.ph informing me that in lieu of their 4th year anniversary, they are increasing webhosting accounts by 50% more. Isn’t that awesome?

I like your domain name, though. It’s very unique. :)
