Underworld, Evolution, and Rise of the Lycans
Last week, i decided to watch Underworld and Underworld: Evolution because i wanted to watch Underworld: Rise of the Lycans. My purpose was to refresh my failing memory. I think i’ve seen Underworld 3 times, and Evolution 2 times.
When i was younger, i was never into vampires as much as my peers were. Though I saw Interview with the Vampire and Queen of the Damned when i was in high school. Now, i barely remember the story. I was intruiged with Buffy, the Vampire Slayer, but never did watch the series. One reason is that i was scared of vampires. I remember covering my neck when i sleep, because i’m afraid the vampire will have easy access to my neck. It’s a stupid thing but i was young, and my imagination ran wild.
I was more into magic and wizardry. It first started when i saw an episode of Charmed. I liked the movie The Craft and Merlin, and read books with themes of witchcraft like Sweep. The most phenomenal i read is of course Harry Potter.
Recently, i have learned to appreciate vampire stories. I guess it started when i read the Twilight Saga, of course i questioned its idea of vampires. I’m neutral to the whole Twilight thing. I liked it and didn’t like it at the same time. Other vampire stories i liked are True Blood and Moonlight, unfortunately the latter was canceled for reasons unknown to me. I want to read Charlaine Harris’ The Southern Vampire Mysteries, the original story behind True Blood. But i want to start first with Anne Rice’s The Vampire Chronicles and go from there.
Which brings me back to Underworld. I like the first movie, the sequel was ok, the thid wasn’t anything special. It’s just an elaborate story of the backstory intoduced in the first two movies. That’s all i have to say.
