Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince (HBP) came out a couple of weeks ago and i was not able to watch it till the other day. I read the book again to refresh my fail of a memory, and i’m still half-way through it. I decided to finish it even i saw the movie already, and then head to the Deathly Hallows next. From past experiences i learned to condition myself to not expect the movie be much like the book. Because of time constraint and production cost, some parts of the story are ommited, changed, or added to better suit the movie. Though hardcore fanatics find it unacceptable, i am totally fine with it.

Twenty minutes into the movie and i already saw the changes. That’s only because the first half of the book is still fresh in my mind. Some of the scenes weren’t in order, which had me lost for a minute, but i was still on track. HBP was supposed to focus on the rise of Voldemort to power, following the incident that happened in the Order of the Phoenix, but instead the movie emphasized the romance between Harry and Ginny, and Ron and Hermione. The whole Harry Potter story wasn’t that much into romance but with only a few hints on HBP and the Deathly Hallows (DH), but the main focus was in the adventure that Harry experienced with his battle for good. I guess that leaves me a little disappointed.

I’m happy that they’re creating DH in two parts, something that i have always said that should have been done since Sorcerer’s Stone. The whole HP series is so complex that i felt each book should have had at least two parts when portrayed in to a movie, to be fully understood. I say this because when i saw the first two movies in theater with friends, they kept asking what was going on and it was  hard to explain to them why such thing happened. Or they could have at least started doing the two-part movies on Goblet of Fire. It would have been awesome to see the Triwizard turnament and Harry’s experiences in detail.

Anyway, i’m too excited for Deathly Hallows and i’m going to read it again once i’m done with HBP.
